The United Nations annual meeting took a dark turn Thursday when a Nicaraguan diplomat was found dead in a Bronx apartment with his throat cut, according to New York City police. The 34-year-old man’s body was discovered by his driver at about 10:15 a.m. as the driver was reportedly on the way to take the official to the United Nations General Assembly meeting. The apartment is believed to be the man’s residence and a knife was found at the scene. A name has yet to be released, and an assistant to Nicaragua's ambassador to the United Nations, Maria Rubiales de Chamorro, refused to provide any additional information.
