United Nations observers said that the attack on the Syrian town of Tremseh that activists say left 220 dead “appeared targeted at specific groups and houses,” heightening concerns that it was a massacre by President Bashar al-Assad’s forces. The observers, who will return to the town Sunday, said they found a burned school, as well as evidence of artillery and small-arms fire. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 33 people were killed Saturday as violence continued in the fractured nation. In a video posted online Saturday and allegedly filmed in Tremseh, an anonymous man said the attackers “burned people in front of our eyes.”
