Flight passengers were left fearing for their lives as an engine on a United Airlines flight in Houston caught fire and let out black smoke during takeoff, the Associated Press reported. No injuries were reported as around 104 passengers left the plane via slides shortly after the Airbus A319 aircraft came to a stop on Sunday. Videos posted online showed passengers screaming “please get us out of here” while others showed people standing on the tarmac. The flight, which was heading to New York City, was only stopped at George Bush Intercontinental Airport after an indication was received about an engine, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement. “Passengers deplaned on the runway via a combination of slides and stairs and were bused to the terminal,” a statement issued by United Airlines said. “We lined up a different aircraft to take customers to their destination at 2:00 p.m. CT.”
