A United Nations envoy has suspended Syrian peace talks amid continued conflict and instability on the ground. Opposition leaders blamed a renewed assault on Aleppo, where President Assad's troops were advancing with Russian air support. The talks hadn’t made much progress since beginning earlier this week. While both sides blamed each other, a senior UN official told Reuters that the escalation had undermined negotiations.
