As many as 70 wildfire experts from Australia and New Zealand have been sent to help American firefighters extinguish blazes all over the West Coast. More than 29,000 firefighters are battling 100 fires in California, Oregon, and Washington. The visitors will “support other countries in their time of need,” said an Australian emergency official. “The crews… are very experienced in dealing with large wildfires, having handled fires on similar terrain across Australia.”
