U.S.-led forces said they have killed ISIS' chief cleric and close confidant of Abu Bakr al-Bahdadi in a Syria airstrike on May 31, according to a statement from the Combined Joint Task Force. Turki al-Bin'ali, who has been the chief cleric since 2014, had a central role in recruiting extremists and causing terrorist attacks worldwide. The strike took place in Mayadin.
