U.S. adoption of foreign children dropped by 9 percent last year, marking the lowest level since 1982, according to State Department figures released Tuesday. American parents adopted 6,441 children from overseas in 2014, compared to the 7,094 adopted in 2013. The number has fallen each year since a record high of 22,884 in 2004. China accounted for the most adopted children, but its total was still more than 10 percent below the 2013 figure.
