Things are getting ugly in this whole spying scandal. U.S. officials claimed on Tuesday that France and Spain should probably get off their high horses about the spying, since their own intelligence agencies helped. According to intelligence sources, Europeans collected phone records from war zones and other areas outside their borders and then shared these records with the National Security Agency. If true, this certainly changes things since reports published in Europe had omitted these details. Meanwhile, a source told Reuters on Tuesday that President Obama recently ordered the NSA to curb its eavesdropping on the United Nations headquarters in New York. So at least somebody is listening to the worldwide dissatisfaction.
