With Japan's nuclear crisis ongoing, the world is stepping in to help. Americans alone have donated almost $150 million since the earthquake and tsunami struck on March 11. The U.S. and France are sending equipment and experts to aid Japan in its battle to contain radiation in the Fukushima Daiichi plant, both countries said Tuesday. France flew in two nuclear experts from its state-owned reactor maker Areva and its CEA nuclear-research body, while the U.S. is weighing sending radiation-detecting robots. More than a dozen Japanese workers have been injured at the plant, and engineers have been torn about whether cooling reactors with water will increase the radiation risk. French President Nicolas Sarkozy will also visit Tokyo Thursday, the first foreign head of state to visit since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
