Will apologize for 1940s "unethical" STD experiments.
Seriously? The U.S. government, led by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, is expected to issue an official apology on Friday to Guatemala for a medical research experiment that infected hundreds of Guatemalans with gonorrhea and syphilis—without their knowledge or consent. The experiments took place in the 1940s on 696 subjects; the apology will be directed towards Guatemalans and Hispanics who are U.S. residents. The research was recently discovered by a women’s studies professor at Wellesley College.
