U.S. Offers $1 Million Reward for Information on Hamza Bin Laden, Osama Bin Laden’s Son

The FBI is offering as much as $1 million for information about the whereabouts of Hamza bin Laden, the emerging leader of al Qaeda and son of Osama bin Laden. The terrorist’s son has been calling for attacks on the United States and its allies in retaliation for the May 2011 killing of his father. Hamza is married to the daughter of the lead Sept. 11, 2001, attack hijacker Mohammed Atta and, according to documentation found in bin Laden’s hideout, was being groomed to succeed his father as the leader of the terrorist group. “He has released audio and video messages on the internet, calling on his followers to launch attacks against the United States and its Western allies, and he has threatened attacks against the United States in revenge for the May 2011 killing of his father by U.S. military forces,” the State Department said in a statement. On Friday, Reuters reported that Saudi Arabia’s interior ministry announced the kingdom had stripped Hazma bin Laden of his citizenship in response to the U.S. reward offer.
