A U.S. official said early Monday that Osama Bin Laden had been buried at sea. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that senior administration officials wanted to bury Bin Laden according to Islamic practice and custom—meaning he had to be buried within 24 hours. But finding a country willing to accept the remains would have been difficult, so the U.S. decided to bury him at sea. Bin Laden was killed early Sunday morning in a firefight in Pakistan, and President Obama confirmed Sunday night that the U.S. had his body.
