U.S. Pushes for More Drone Strikes

Pakistan isn't playing ball with the U.S. on drones. In a move that further strains relations between the two nations, Islamabad rejected requests to expand the area where the controversial unmanned CIA weapons can operate. The U.S. wants to step up strikes around Quetta, where many believe the Taliban leadership operated. "If they understand our side, they know the patience is running out," a senior NATO military official said. According to U.S. officials, Pakistan felt that expanding the drone area was a threat to its sovereignty. The CIA has launched around 47 drone attacks in Pakistan since the beginning of September.
