An American service member was killed in eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday, the Pentagon announced. The unnamed personnel “died as a result of wounds suffered Wednesday during a partnered operation with U.S. and Afghan Forces” to counter ISIS, according to the Pentagon. Additional American and Afghan troops were injured during the operation, which was meant to push back against ISIS-Khorasan. Over the weekend, two U.S. troops were killed in northern Iraq.
