Secretary of State John Kerry announced Sunday that the United States will increase its cap on the refugees it accepts and resettles to 85,000 next year. The following year, an additional 15,000 will be added to the cap. This comes shortly after President Obama's plan to resettle 10,000 Syrian refugees over the next year. “This step is in keeping with America’s best tradition as a land of second chances and a beacon of hope,” Kerry said.
