The U.S. considered several options to deal with the stealth drone that crashed in Iran last week, including launching an airstrike to destroy the remaining parts and sending commandos in to retrieve it. In the end, U.S. officials decided the risk of sparking a confrontation with Iran was too high and hoped Iran hadn't noticed the drone had crashed. That hope vanished when Iranian media announced the drone had been shot down. The U.S. said it suffered a technical malfunction and crashed.
