The United States is moving on in the World Cup: The American team averted elimination when Landon Donovan scored in the 91st minute to beat Algeria 1-0. Until then, the game was shaping up to be a heartbreaking tie—the Americans had an early goal taken back by the ref, and they missed several opportunities. The Americans are likely to play Germany or Ghana in the first round of the knockout round. England beat Slovenia to claim the second spot from Group C.
