Valentino's Big Season, Stella McCartney's Speedo Trouble

Paint The Town Red: Valentino Garavani is having a busy autumn. It was announced Thursday that he’ll be the subject of Valentino: Master of Couture, a major exhibition at London’s Somerset House in November. The show will focus on the highlights of his 50-year career, and will include dresses he’s made for the likes of Jackie O., Sophia Loren, and Gwyneth Paltrow. This will come on the heels of his partnership with the New York City Ballet, where he will be designing costumes for three dances, including George Balanchine’s Rubies. We’ll expect lots of “Valentino Red."

Home Turf: H&M has announced that they’ll be bringing their housewares line to the US in 2013. Originally launched in Europe in 2009, the range will be seasonally inspired by runway trends. [WWD]

Tight Fit: Stella McCartney was tasked with designing an enormous amount of uniforms for England’s Olympic team, but as she told BBC, the hardest part required the least amount of fabric. The designer’s biggest effort was creating a Speedo for UK diver Tom Daley: “There wasn’t a lot of space to work on to apply the print!” [People]

Lifetime Achievement: Giorgio Armani’s inevitable retirement has been a hot topic lately, but the designer, now 78, told Elle UK there’s no chance that date drawing near. “No. Quitting. No,” he told the fashion glossy. [Elle UK]

A Dog’s Life: The popularity of Karl Lagerfeld’s kitten, Choupette Lagerfeld, has apparently extended to one fashionable dog, as well. Now comes Bert—household pooch of supermodel Lara Stone and her husband, David Walliams. In this exclusive interview, the little Border Terrier professes his love for his mother’s homemade cheese biscuits and his favorite places to take a nap. [I-D]
