That seems to be the strategy for Joran van der Sloot, who has reportedly retracted his confession to the murder of Stephany Flores, citing intimidation during the interrogation process and a broken promise that he would be moved to his native Netherlands after a confession. Van der Sloot is also the primary suspect in the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway in 2005, and has often given conflicting statements on his involvement with the case.
