Johnny Lee Wicks, the man who killed a security officer and wounded a U.S. marshal with a shotgun in a Las Vegas courtroom Monday, was apparently angry over a reduction to his Social Security benefits, reports the Las Vegas Sun. After the reduction, Wicks, 66, filed a lawsuit alleging discrimination because of his race, but after almost two years, the case was thrown out in September 2009. Three hours before the shooting, a fire broke out in Wicks' apartment. “He gave off that aura that he wanted to be alone,” said a neighbor of Wicks'. “It doesn’t shock me it was him downtown.”
