A dead protester is carried away after gunshots were heard during an anti-government rally in Caracas on Wednesday. A Reuters cameraman and a photographer heard shots and saw the protester had fallen to the ground. The man was then carried away dead, the witnesses said, apparently shot in the head. Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado said two student protesters were killed during Wednesday's demonstration in Caracas against President Nicolas Maduro's government. A government official has confirmed only one death, and said the victim was one of its supporters.
