Venezuelan Opposition Leader Released from Prison

Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez was released from prison on Sunday just a few years into his 14-year sentence for inciting violence at protests. Lopez was moved to house arrest due to health problems. President Nicolas Maduro hailed Lopez’s release as “a message of peace and rectification” for Venezuela. Anti-government demonstrations have gripped the country for years, but have intensified in recent months in part due to a failing economy.
