Finally putting an end to swirling rumors about his health, Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez said in a television address on Thursday night that he has cancer and has had a second operation in Cuba to remove a tumor. Officials had previously announced that Chávez had undergone surgery for a pelvic abscess.
