U.S. Border Patrol officials in Arizona have opened an investigation after video surfaced showing a Border Patrol SUV running over a man on a Native American reservation and driving away. The incident is said to have occurred late Thursday on the Tohono O'odham Nation reservation, where a man identified as Paulo Remes said he was struck and left lying in the middle of the dirt roadway. A 37-second video of the incident published on social media shows the Border Patrol vehicle approaching and then apparently knocking Remes over, before he can be seen filming from the ground as the vehicle drives off. “They just ran me over, bro. Yeah, they just ran me over, dude,” Remes can be heard saying. He was later taken to a nearby hospital for the treatment of unspecified injuries. Border Patrol officials on Friday promised to “fully cooperate” with an investigation into the incident. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Professional Responsibility is investigating with help from the Tohono O’odham Police Department.
