CARTEL WARS

Video Purports to Show El Chapo’s Son Being Kidnapped

Jesus Alfredo Guzman allegedly taken on Monday.

New surveillance footage from a Puerto Vallarta restaurant purports to show the moment Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman’s son was kidnapped this week by a rival cartel. The jailed Sinaloa cartel leader’s son, Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, 29, was among several men alleged kidnapped by members of the Jalisco New Generation cartel on Monday evening, and footage from the eatery—uploaded by Blog del Narco—purportedly shows Salazar on his knees with his hands behind his head as a gangster points a gun at him. The kidnapping reportedly suggests El Chapo’s cartel is not as powerful as it once was, with the Jalisco gang seeking to underscore that by attacking the gangster’s family.
