A Brooklyn high schooler is suing the city after an NYPD officer beat him with a baton in his classroom in December. Video footage shows officer Kareem Phillips hitting 18-year-old Yordy Aragonez twice with a baton while shouting profanities. Aragonez told television station NY1 that he had been in a fight, and thought the police officer was coming to help him. The NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau is investigating the incident.
