New footage emerged Friday purporting to show Russian-backed rebels rummaging through passenger luggage at the crash site after it was shot out of the sky over Ukraine last year. A voice is heard on the footage declaring “civilians” and this is “a passenger plane” in Russian. All 298 passengers and crew on board Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 were killed. The video, obtained by News Corp. Australia, was released the same day as friends and families of the 38 Australian victims on board the plane marked the first anniversary in Canberra. Mourners paid tribute to the victims at Parliament’s Great Hall, where Prime Minister Tony Abbott urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to bring justice to the rebels who reportedly shot down the plane. News Corp. reportedly handed the footage over to a multinational joint investigation team, including police from Australia, Belgium, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and Ukraine.
