Dennis “Denny” Green, a renowned National Football League coach, died of complications from cardiac arrest Thursday night at the age of 67. Known as a mentor to countless players, Green coached the Arizona Cardinals and the Minnesota Vikings over 13 football seasons. A statement from his family said he “fought hard” and had family by his side as he passed away. “Denny made his mark in ways far beyond being an outstanding football coach. He served as a father figure for the men he coached,” the Vikings said in a statement. “His tenure as one of the first African-American head coaches in both college and the NFL was also transformative.”
