At least three people have been killed, and at least 250 others injured, in a violent clash between soldiers and protestors at an anti-government camp in Cairo. Soldiers stormed the protest site at dawn on Friday, shooting into the air as an attempt to warn demonstrators to disperse. Instead, they began fighting back, throwing stones at military police and lighting cars on fire. The country’s ruling military council has attempted to place the blame for the violence on the protesters, issuing a statement today that says the clashes were part of an ongoing plot to dismantle Egypt’s elections.
