An entire segment—‘Freestylin’ with The Roots’—has been a staple, wherein lead vocalist Tariq ‘Black Thought’ Trotter comes up with lyrics on the spot about audience members picked at random.
On Wednesday’s ‘Tonight Show,’ Trotter focused his skills on rapping about everyone’s favorite boy wizard Harry Potter. The rap may not have been completely off the cuff, as the show broadcasts from Orlando this week where Universal Studios is unveiling a new Potter-themed park, but this is probably the only time you’ll hear the words ‘Butterbeer’ and ‘Quidditch’ in a rap without wanting to cringe.
