Federal authorities arrested and charged a Virginia woman who they say supported ISIS and unwittingly attempted to connect an undercover FBI agent with the Islamic terrorist group in Syria. Heather Elizabeth Coffman, 29, who lives with her parents and has a 7-year-old child, was charged with making a false statement regarding an offense involving international or domestic terrorism. According to the federal affidavit, Coffman posted pro-ISIS statements on Facebook, like “I love ISIS!” and “We are all ISIS.” She also offered “concrete steps” to help an FBI agent posing as someone with pro-ISIS views, claiming to know a facilitator in Syria. When she was interviewed at her office last Thursday, Coffman denied having done so to federal authorities. Coffman’s defense attorney described her case as an example of “Facebook going badly.” Coffman appeared in federal court on Monday, and her next hearing is Wednesday.
