Erik Bauersfeld, the actor whose raspy voice spoke the immortal words “It’s a trap!” in Return of the Jedi, died on Sunday of natural causes. He was 93.
Bauersfeld actually gave his voice to two characters in that Star Wars installment, though the other is not as well known or loved: Bib Fortuna, the snakey-headed henchman/doorman to Jabba the Hutt.
Although he may be best remembered for his Star Wars roles, Bauersfeld also worked in films including Crimson Peak and A.I.: Artificial Intelligence, and was primarily a radio actor.
Last year, he reprised the role of Ackbar in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Now he is one with the Force.
