Walter Scott Lawyer Backs Bernie

The lawyer representing the family of Walter L. Scott—the unarmed black man fatally shot by a South Carolina police officer last year—has withdrawn support from Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in favor of rival Sen. Bernie Sanders. The family’s attorney, S.C. State Rep. Justin T. Bamberg, said Monday that he believes Clinton is “too establishment” and that Sanders will be more “bold.” Scott’s shooting was caught on video and led to the indictment of the officer on a murder charge. Bamberg initially suggested Clinton would be adept at assisting poorer communities with problems such as police abuse, but says he no longer holds such an opinion.
