A man who was in the car with Walter Scott before he was shot by a South Carolina cop spoke out Monday and said he’ll never know why his friend ran. “I’ll never know why he ran, but I know he didn’t deserve to die,” Pierre Fulton said in a statement released by his lawyer. “Please keep Walter and his family in your prayers and respect my privacy moving forward.” Scott was shot and killed by officer Michael Slager when he ran from his vehicle during a routine traffic stop.
