A quarter-century after his death, the provocative, fame-craving pop artist still makes headlines. In a statement this week, the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts announced that they will be auctioning off the remainder of the artist’s estate at Christie’s this fall. The 20,000 plus pieces—valued at over $100 million—include silk-screen paintings, drawings, prints, collages, photographs and archival materials. The Chairman of the foundation, Michael Straus, says that the majority of the profits will be used to grow the already $225 multi-million dollar endowment which Warhol dedicated to the “advancement of the visual arts.”
