Warner Music Hires Goldman Sachs

Looking to sell itself off or buy EMI.

Warner Music Group, one of the four major record companies, has hired the investment firm Goldman Sachs in an attempt to either sell itself off or possibly buy the embattled British music giant EMI. Warner had been pursued by several high-profile investor firms other than Goldman, including the buyout firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts—meaning Warner is seriously considering selling itself, or at least part of the company. A separate group of bankers within Goldman are also working on the EMI deal.
