Washington Redskins’ Montae Nicholson Charged With Assault: Police
CHARGED
Washington Redskins defensive back Montae Nicholson was arrested and charged with assault Tuesday after a drunken fight at a Northern Virginia shopping mall, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said. At around 2 a.m. Tuesday, Nicholson, 23, and his girlfriend, 24-year-old Sydney Maggiore, pulled up to the mall in a car and honked at a man and woman, authorities said. The encounter then “turned physical,” LCSO spokesman Kraig Troxell. Maggiore, who was also charged with assault, allegedly struck the woman with a bottle and physically attacked the man with Nicholson, according to police. The pair were arrested when they returned to the scene after Maggiore lost her keys, Troxell said. “We are aware of the arrest of Montae Nicholson,” Redskins spokesman Tony Wyllie said in a statement. “We are gathering more information and will not comment until we have further details.” Nicolson and Maggiore are being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and face a maximum sentence of a year in prison.
