Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) began a filibuster on the U.S. Senate floor Wednesday morning over the issue of gun control in the wake of the Orlando mass shooting. “I am prepared to stand on the Senate floor and talk about the need to prevent gun violence for as long as I can,” Murphy tweeted. “I’ve had #enough.” Murphy has suggested that Congress was complicit in the Sandy Hook and Orlando tragedies for not acting on stricter gun-control measures. Earlier Wednesday, Florida Sen. Bill Nelson, also a Democrat, introduced legislation that would allow the FBI to be notified when a current or former terror suspect attempts to purchase a firearm.
