“Are you a ‘lying sack of sh-t’?” asked co-host Joanna Coles during this week’s episode of The Daily Beast Podcast. The focus of that question: author Michael Wolff, returning to the podcast to discuss his new book, All or Nothing: How Trump Recaptured America. And the context: the Trump team’s fiery pushback on its publication, including a barrage of insults from Trump himself.
Wolff, unfazed, laid out some of the book’s most shocking revelations—All or Nothing indeed. First Lady Melania Trump “f---ing hates” her husband, he asserted, adding that she skipped his trial to avoid answering questions about their living arrangements. Of Trump himself, he recounted a potentially near-death moment while mid-flight on a plane previously owned by Jeffrey Epstein. “I can’t die on Jeffrey Epstein’s plane,” Wolff quoted Trump as screaming during “stomach-dropping turbulence.”
(“Even in that moment, he knew the optics were bad,” Coles quipped.)
Now on his fourth Trump book, Wolff admitted even he couldn’t have predicted the chaos of Trump’s latest political comeback. “This is provocations at a punk rock level,” he said of his new administration, describing a world where Trump surrounds himself with “people who hate each other.” Beyond that hatred for their peers, Wolff offered some insight into why people still talk to him for these books. As co-host Samantha Bee joked, “you’re like a therapist. They have to tell someone.”
In other things you have to tell someone about, meanwhile: Listen along to the episode in full for the latest in “salmon sperm facials.”
