Watchdogs to DOJ: Investigate Super PACs!

A nonprofit watchdog group is petitioning the Justice Department to launch a criminal investigation into whether Mitt Romney’s and Barack Obama’s support of super PACs is illegal. This move came shortly after President Obama announced that he’d abandon his crusade against super PACs and help fundraise for Priorities USA Action, the Democratic Party’s leading super PAC. “In order to believe that the super PACs supporting President Obama and Mitt Romney are ‘independent’ from the presidential campaigns they are supporting, you must believe in the tooth fairy,” the president of the group Democracy 21 said in a statement. “Democracy 21 does not believe in the tooth fairy.”
