What were the buzziest topics of 2010? Twitter analyzed the 25 billion tweets sent this year and found that the overall top three trends were the Gulf oil spill, the World Cup, and Inception. Strangely, vuvuzela, in the fifth slot, beat both the iPad (which came in at No. 6) and Justin Bieber (a respectable No. 8). The category of news events was dominated by environmental and natural disasters: the Gulf spill, the Haiti earthquake, and the Pakistan floods took the first three spots. The Koreas conflict and the Chilean-miners rescue took the fourth and fifth spots.
