Someone replaced the American flags on top of the Brooklyn Bridge with white flags early Tuesday morning. While this may seem like a harmless prank, the NYPD is taking it as a serious breach of security. Police maintain a 24-hour presence at the bridge, making the flag’s replacement all the more curious. NYPD counterterrorism and intelligence divisions are investigating how the white flags got there. “If flying a white flag atop the Brooklyn Bridge is someone’s idea of a joke, I’m not laughing,” said Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.
