White House Denies NBC Scoop

NOT SO FAST

Calls story about individual markets “misleading.”

Watch your back, Brian Williams—the White House is not happy with NBC News. The White House pushed back Tuesday against an NBC report that three-quarters of people who bought insurance independently would have to switch plans—and that the Obama administration knew about it. “NBC ‘scoop’ cites ‘normal turnover in the indiv insurance market.’ That’s a) not new b) not caused by #ACA c) the problem #ACA will solve,” tweeted deputy press secretary John Earnest. According to the NBC report, 50 to 75 percent of the 14 million people who purchased their insurance individually would have to change plans, although President Obama has insisted nobody would have to switch plans if they didn’t want to. Senior advisor Dan Pfeiffer tweeted that the report was “misleading.”
