White House Dinner a Hit

NERD PROM

Obama and Leno compete for laughs.

President Obama was a hit at the star-studded White House Correspondents’ Dinner Saturday night, which traditionally features a comedy routine by the commander in chief. "I happen to know that my approval ratings are still very high in the country of my birth," Obama joked, referencing the conspiracy theorists who falsely claim the president was born in Kenya. Jay Leno was the headliner at the dinner, and Obama called him "the only person whose ratings fell more than mine." Leno said Obama was less aloof than he appears. "He loves to socialize...health care, car companies," Leno quipped. Journalists honored at the dinner included CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller, Jake Tapper of ABC News, and Ben Feller of the Associated Press, among others. Stars in attendance included Donatella Versace, Olympic medalist Lindsey Vonn, Chevy Chase, Alec Baldwin, Michelle Pfeiffer, the Jonas Brothers, and Justin Bieber, along with a host of politicos like RNC Chairman Michael Steele and former Secretary of State Colin Powell.
