The U.S. and its allies are discussing how the embattled president could step aside or set an election for September in which he will not run. Mubarak’s options are looking limited after the military announced Monday it would not use force against protesters. President Obama has sent Frank G. Wisner, who served as U.S. ambassador to Egypt from 1986 to 1991, back to Cairo to meet with Mubarak.
