The White House will go ahead with the nomination of Gen. John Allen as Europe’s NATO commander, after the Pentagon cleared him of misconduct Tuesday. The Pentagon says its investigation cleared Allen of any professional wrongdoing in the General Petraeus scandal, particularly in relation to email exchanges between Allen and Jill Kelley. Allen’s nomination must be resubmitted to Congress for approval. Also on Tuesday, the White House confirmed that Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will be leaving his post after four years of service.
