Both White House press secretary Sarah Sanders and White House counselor Kellyanne Conway on Sunday insisted that the Trump administration will not interfere in the FBI investigation into sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh. “The White House is not micromanaging this process,” Sanders said on Fox News Sunday. “The Senate is dictating the terms,” she said. Sanders’ comments came after NBC News reported late Saturday that the White House had taken moves to block the FBI from interviewing some witnesses. Conway, in comments to CNN, confirmed that the probe would be “limited in scope” but said it would be “up to the FBI” to determine how. “The White House is not getting involved in the FBI investigation in that way,” she said, adding that it is “not a fishing expedition.” Asked whether White House counsel Don McGahn had given the FBI a list of people to be interviewed, Conway said she “had not talked to him about it.”
