White Powder Mailed to Federal Buildings

FBI investigating eight incidents.

Eight federal offices in the Northwest received envelopes containing an unidentified white powder. According to Fred Gutt of the FBI, federal agents responded to calls out of Boise, Idaho, and Bellevue, Seattle, and Spokane, Washington: "We are involved," he said, assuring that agents were "still on the scene of all of them." According to the Boise Police Department, one envelope was mailed to the state’s U.S. attorney's office, and the building was evacuated. A Bellevue IRS building also received a powder-filled envelope and was evacuated as well.
