The self-identified neo-Nazi who stands accused of driving a car through a group of protesters and killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer at last year’s “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville was indicted Wednesday on federal hate crime charges, according to the Associated Press. The 21-year-old man, James Alex Fields Jr., now faces 30 hate crime charges. One concerns the death of Heyer, a paralegal; most of the others condemn his alleged attempts to kill other protesters. Fields has already been charged with first degree murder and has been imprisoned since last year’s white nationalist rally.
