The California governor's race is shaping up as one to watch: First-time Republican candidate Meg Whitman has unveiled her political stances, and her sharply conservative views will likely complicate her run. Proposition 8 has her support, although she also believes same-sex marriages that occurred before the ban should be recognized. Although California is facing a huge deficit, the billionaire candidate remains against raising taxes—even for the highest income brackets—reports the Los Angeles Times. She also praised controversial former Gov. Pete Wilson as one of the greatest California governors in memory. "I think maybe it is about time for a governor who has created jobs, who's managed a budget, who's led and inspired large organizations, who listens well, and who can drive an agenda," said Whitman.
